Cat Has Claws – Floorboards

Constant. Unrelenting. Monotone. Level.

“Rocket up the sky with the synth crank, cranking to the edge of the Universe.” Cat Has Claws’ Floorboards brings back the insane – the insanity of what’s been said, or not said. Confusion directs the wind, in a relationship, made to be swaying.

It’s the ‘gnawing’ feeling.

It’s a dull scratch.

Feels like a paint brush up against the skin.

Constant. Unrelenting. Monotone. Level.

Julie’s vocals don’t display a large range in this particular song. But it’s about the combination of elements isn’t it?

The vocals, although not conventional, is critical to the song’s direction. It’s the proverbial ‘Cat earth mover’ in her voice. The resonance is wide, blunt, and has a take it or leave it attitude.

It’s a good thang.

And Matt, her partner in crime, helps put together the elements, because he knows this as much as Julie does.

The synth keys, makes the package level up and gently, adjust to the environment.

It’s an odd combination to be listening to and reviewing.

But ultimately, songs are about the artist’s expression and focus.

It certainly drew our attention and the oddity makes it attractive.

Anywho, their ‘don’t give a sh*t’ attitude is always needed; at least for your art.

It deserves at least that from you.

Kudos Julie/Matt. Kudos.

Their new EP ‘Oh Well’ dropped on November 16, 2017. Add it to your list of songs.
