Alvvays – Lollipop (Ode To Jim)

“When you don’t mean anything. When you don’t mean anything significant. When I can’t stand to see you anymore.” Alvvays’ Lollipop is a perfect example of what Alvvays is as a band, its philosophy on songs, and describes the proper charm of its outputs – direct and seductive, in all the correct ways.

I don’t like you.

I don’t want you.

Can’t stand you.

Don’t think of me.

Don’t need to be done in a irrational and mean way. But ultimately, the bottom line is that it IS a dirty and mean job.

It’s the way you look.

It’s the way you breathe.

It’s the way you eat.

It’s the way you walk.

Once that switch has been turned upside down, there’s rarely a chance that we can recover. Just like we can fall in love with a total opposite, we can fall right out of love from the most attractive person in the world.

It’s too late.

Alvvays just does it right. With indie-pop-respect, and sticky pop instrumentals, they invite all of us in for their ride.

We’ve been fans.

We’re still fans.

And we love all the band members to bits, especially Molly and Kerri =D

2018 is already set for the 1st quarter with a long list of touring dates. Their fans will be psyched.

‘Antisocialites’ dropped on September 8, 2017, but it still sparkles with the enthusiasm the band brings. The album is available for purchase now.

They’re rep’ed in the US by Polyvinyl.
