The Detective is Leon County Sheriff’s, Emily Shaw, and she wrapped her hand around this anaconda’s tail and gently put it in a safe duffel bag. This cop is our heroine. She’s calm, collected, and obviously has been around a snake, once or twice or many times.
On the sheriff’s office Facebook post, they indicated that the “..Detective Shaw has experience handling exotic snakes. Watch as she captures what is now confirmed as a 9 foot long Yellow Anaconda..”
They also indicated that they “believe this was someone’s pet that either escaped or was released”.
They encouraged exotic pet owners to be responsible and DON’T throw them out into the wild. Instead they should call the Florida Fish and Wildlife conservation Commission for help.
