BELAKO has been kicking butt for a long while now. They bring the ‘odd’ and ‘off-beat’ in their songs, where there poses many opportunities for individuals to grasp a-hold the band’s innovative sounds and meanings behind those eclectic premonitions. From synth landscapes, to post-punk attitudes, and stutter step note progressions, the quartet embodies the freedom of well-being of mind and body to the sometimes impetuous and immaturity of the world surrounding them.
‘Maskenfreiheit’ is off of the latest album ‘Render Me Numb, Trivial Violence’ (not now), and it takes you on ‘another’ kind of path. Dipping back into the punk sensibilities, this single drops hard and with the hard bass work and keys, it displays the acumen in song construction.
The vocals of Cris Lizarraga is the ‘bitter-sweetness’ (that accompanies all of BELAKO’s sonic tenures) which dampens and helps us understand a bit more, of the angst and ‘deprivations’ the singles describe in totality.
The Basque country originating band has seen many successful milestones, including fabulous tour shows with the likes of with Liam Gallagher, Queens of the Stone Age and Two Door Cinema Club.
“We’ve played these three amazing shows in London and had the honour of sharing the bill with such esteemed artists like Liam Gallagher, Queens of The Stone Age, Two Door Cinema Club and The Vaccines. The experience was amazing and we are so excited to return in September and hit the road for this mini-tour around the country.
We think that BELAKO is so fascinating to watch, to listen, to glean-over the trials and tribulations of their rise to popularity. From what we gather from Spanish online features, the four band members are quite a treat to follow.
Their UK tour starts @ The Lexington (London) on September 17th.
17/09 @ THE LEXINGTON (LONDON)
18/09 @ GULLIVERS (MANCHESTER)
19/09 @ STEREO (GLASGOW)
20/09 @ THE FLAPPER (BIRMINGHAM)
