Carpet Waves ‘Winter’ : soliloquy of sight and sound, form in textures and in an unabashed thump of reality.

Carpet Waves

Off of the five new song EP ‘Darkness and Bright Thoughts’ by Carpet Waves, ‘Winter’ is an indie rock song with a lot of influences of post punk and gothic. The guitar melody, foreboding vocals, and deep bass line and driving drums, relegate reality to the corners of the far off universe for a moment; while impending doom of lust and grievance and possible resurgence, palpitate to existence through the folds.

“The lyrics are about uncomfortable situation and climate change. The message is that all things we experience in live are there for a reason. The personification of winter emphasizes the bands’ personal experiences with cold mornings and dark thoughts.”

The song was “created between boozy nights, broken heads and melancholy moments” emphasized by the band. “The ideas developed in crashing jam sessions, were packed in crisp indie compositions and merged with elements from alternative..”

Energy is abound, as the soliloquy of sight and sound, form in textures and in an unabashed thump of reality. The grinding pace accents the pure, and within it, there’s nothing you can do about it, but listen.

Listen. Indeed.
