Ellysse Mason ‘Something Good’ : Intoxicating blend of mystery, melody, and sultry collision.

Ellysse Mason

New single from Manchester’s Ellysse MasonIt marks a distinct change in direction from her 2018 single ‘Hunt Me Down’ which crashed into the Music Friday playlisttop 10, amassing 2.5 million streams to date. ‘Something Good’ is an intoxicating blend of mystery, melody, space noise and a generous smattering of 1980’s fairy dust. This heady combination results in an ingeniously, delicately-balanced track that manages to address the ups and downs of depression whilst at the same time managing to feel like it’s giving you a massive hug.

Sitting firmly in the ‘Alt-Pop’ category, the single is an a deftly-balanced mix of gorgeous pop melodies and teasing glimpses of unusual production. There are noises and sound effects here that hint there is a lot more to come from this intriguing new artist.

As Ellysse explained: “I found it difficult in isolation, just like everyone else. I like the outside and usually can’t stay in for longer than a day before I go mad. But it also forced this positive mindset onto me, because I’ve had to be. It’s like the world just stopped turning for a second, and it’s given me time to be creative. I managed to come up with a music video that can hopefully resonate with so many people.”
