World music isn’t a category that we try to delve into, but Emel’s Insanity brings out the ‘feels’ that one wants and need to get from such venue. And it’s a distraction. A good distraction. A needed distraction.
Emel is a force to be reckoned with, and her popularity is very cool. Her Tunisian roots just burst into the fore, but mixes it very well. Especially within the environment of this song, Insanity.
Don’t know what to make of it, to be honest. It’s not the typical world music. It definitely lives in the hallowed walls that the ‘World music’ category built, but it’s still pop.
But we’re attracted.
Dark pop, is an element in Insanity. And we like it better that way.
It’s ‘world’, but it’s not. And we like it better that way.
It’s European, but it’s consuming. And we definitely, like it better that way.
At the last 1/3 of the song, the emphasis on the music and lyrics get to crescendo. It’s a delight to be exposed to the Emel light.
It’s a fab tune, albeit fitting to a certain mood / part of you – in a particular day.
