Family of Things ‘YKB’ : It’s fun, irreverent, but never unjust nor irresponsible. It’s all the good, with less of the calories.

Family of Things (FOT) is an indie band based out of Hamilton, Ontario. The unique sound of music partners Aaron Brown and Bradley Barnham combines sensitive songwriting, boundless vocals, rhythmic integrity and quality production.

Just days after releasing Oscilloscope, their first full-length record, FOT hunkered down in their home studio to dream up the next creative installment: a deluxe record whose lead single, ‘YKB’.

“We wrote this song in the midst of a cultural revolution and major pandemic,” said the duo. “Our goal was to nod to past generations with hints of disco, soul, funk and other major cultural influences that have made a mark on our music and of all music today.”

“YKB is a testament to finding pathways to a brighter and kinder future, and quickly. Once the dust settles, when the high fades and the worry subsides, we can rebuild what it means to be human again and what it means to love fully.”

The musical partners self-released their debut EP in the fall of 2016 with producer/friend, Peter Mol. The EP gained instant support and media coverage (CBC, Indie Shuffle, Hype Machine and more), seeing over 750,000 Spotify streams, topping playlists for New Music Friday and Indie Allstars, among others.

‘YKB’ is, in every sense of its acronym versatility – a vision for how we’d all want our world of existence to be. It’s fun, irreverent, but never unjust nor irresponsible. It’s all the good, with less of the calories.

Let’s dance.
