The Montclair, New Jersey natives announces like a boss, and delivered ‘Nevermine’. Now, the gang is bringing ‘Ages Ago’, an impatient metaphor in self confusion.
“I wasn’t sure who they were, they changed constantly (hence the metaphor describing the “grey coat” and cutting their hair just to “stay afloat”),” she says. “I wasn’t going to wait any longer to find out.”
This time they’re offing a full length album with the help of their friends at Sub Pop. And that’s good. Because it’s been a while, and like a friend who’d moved to the far west, we missed them and we’re ready to absorb their goodness.
They’ve always sounded like this, but it’s even better and more apparent in this single. The song resonates like a part of a graphics novel, describing a Hero’s arc – love is lost, go on a journey, find a better self.
The “Ages Ago” visual was animated by guitarist Ben Guterl.
FW is rep’ed by Sub Pop.
