Fran is the project of Maria Jacobson, and the Chicago based artist, travels around her worlds, with song in her heart. And the songs are shared with delightful chirps, and distinguished gumption, all underpinned by this knack for the ambient and the holy talent for awe.
According to Fran, the single ‘So Surreal’ is about daydreaming. Ant that the ‘huge disconnect’ between the ‘world we create’ and the real world, collide and sometimes we just don’t know what to do. So, we jump. Like Van Halen, and jump some more, to a place of personal consistencies and malleable executive summaries.
“We see ourselves as more than and less than we are. We are constantly imagining the possibilities of relationships, dreams, jobs, pursuits. You have to be a Buddhist monk to just walk down the street..Our daydreams have real power and can transform our lives – but they also pull us out of the momentum of what’s happening. This song tries to capture that frenzy of being pulled in too many directions at once, even if it’s all in your head.”
Relationships (of any facet or degree) can be that traumatizing, sometimes, eh?
So, Fran wants us to know that pushing the boundaries of ‘daydreams’ can be that healthy kick-in-the-pants we all seek.
Don’t let it frighten you.
Don’t let it seep away without examining.
‘So Surreal’ is the 2nd single from Fran’s debut.
