Ganser returns this time with another doozy of a track and video for the new single ‘Avoidance’. It is part of the new upcoming ‘Odd Talk’ album, coming out of the fun factory that is called No Trend Records. And the Chicago band is just getting things bit warmer, taking the momentum brought on by their first single ‘Psy Ops’ which we called ‘merciless’.
Heck, no kidding.
‘Avoidance’ (just like the theme of the video) is a constant and consistent churning of the grind, the roll of the tires through that mass of life’s dust and sand.
But while the actors in the video are just ‘hamming it up’, the contrast of the music from Ganser slaps the smiles off of their faces and tells them to look up and say thank you.
And they certainly do (i.e. in our CHF minds).
Anywho, the band states that ‘Avoidance’ really is about ‘miscommunication’, and the ‘exhaustion’ of trying to decipher those things we call words and sentences. Their ultimate summary is that the exercise is ‘pointless’.
Well, maybe. But the music by Ganser, certainly is not.
As always, Nadia Graofalo’s vocals is a trance inducing chant, while framed by Charlie Landsman’s guitar work punches holes and sees the slow bleeding define on the ground.
The band will be in Chicago for the next several shows, then it’s off to do the nationwide tour in support of the release of the new debut album.
‘Odd Talk’ will drop April 20th.
