Glen Hansard’s Wheels On Fire is just really good. It’s gritty, timely, wayward, raucous. Take this on the stage, and there’s one hell of a good time. Too much for ya? Not enough, to be honest.
It was a hard day’s work, wasn’t it? You dragged it out, because of the little hiccups your co-workers dealt you.
They didn’t do it on purpose. They’re not menacing or vindictive in that way.
They’re just very good hearted, but naive, sometimes.
You don’t like their antics, on purpose or not. But they have become your close chums, friends, family.
Whether you liked it or not.
And just like family, how can you cut the chord?
Well, it can be done, to be honest.
So, what’s your next step? The next action?
Will it make you feel better?
Ask yourself that.
Will it make you feel better – for the long haul?
Hansard’s new album ‘Between Two Shores’ is to drop on January 19th, 2018.
His aesthetics in his body of work (now, especially in this particular song) just is a ‘Pacific-like-hurricane-force’.
Just feels right at home with Hansard’s songs, his philosophies, his musical constitution.
Glen’s been around the block or two, or three, and doesn’t need our input on what or how he seems like to us.
All we can say is that (albeit late) we’re very glad to have met your acquaintance, for the songs are fabulous.
Kudos, Glen. Kudos.
