This band is named Heavy Soda. And their ‘Elephant’ is a gritty, bang up of a rock ‘n roll job as a song can get. The recording just oozes ‘live’, but is sophisticated and produced fabulously. The song is kick-ass, exciting, and wow.
Elephant is part 1 of 2, with the other song being ‘That Ain’t Your Soul’ – both off of their October EP ‘Elephant c/w That Ain’t Your Soul’.
Rob is the guitar and vocalist of the trio and seems to have ‘The Beatles’ kind of feel with his voice. The guitar playing is direct, with a mashing of alternative progression – just enough to make it up to date.
It’s impressive when a trio forms such works. We at CHF, love trios in a band. Just gives off the feel that they are doing things more ‘efficiently’.
But of course, as always- we digress.
“Get your rat face out of my sight range, you sh*t!”
“How dare you talk to me like that!”
“I will talk to you, the way I want!”
“Don’t you dare!”
“Oh. I do dare.”
“Why are you doing this?!”
“Because I care. And it’s rock and roll, you see.”
“But you don’t need to put a tattoo on me, do you?!?”
“Shut up. Sit still.”
The band is fab. When listening to their previous offerings, several months apart, just keeps with the theme and oozes rock – as it does here.
We’d say that ‘Elephant’ is the most unique of the 6 songs they’d offered to date. It’s got it’s own feel, and twists (which is difficult to describe, to be honest).
It’s a dang good song.
We see ourselves in a rock bar, drinking beer, and listening to Heavy Soda – and being awesomely content.
Kudos, Heavy Soda. Kudos.
Hope to know more about you all, real soon.
