Hugar ‘A New Renaissance’ : Beautiful in its delicacies, the taste of ambience lingers in ghostly fashion – dynamic and always engaging.

Bergur Þórisson and Pétur Jónsson are together, Hugar. A synopsis in gradients and lovingly crafted shimmers in light, the artists render listeners into emotional dreams of another kind. ‘A New Renaissance’ is that. A thought, in a bottle, thrown into the vast darkness. A wish for the ‘morrow, entitled for none; just wanting for the next chapter.

Music video for ‘A New Renaissance’ is from their upcoming sophomore album on Sony Music Masterworks – ‘The Vasulka Effect: Music for the Motion Picture’ set for release October 2nd. The new track is the emotional album opener, with a piano melody that falls like wistful tears on a lonesome vista of electronic chords.

The music video comes from their recent livestream from the Nordic House Session Live in Reykjavík and was directed by the duo themselves. In the video they are backlit by mesmerizing projections inspired by the video-art from The Vasulka Effect film, while director of photography -Blair Alexander Massie- captures the mood with hypnotically intimate camera work.

Beautiful in its delicacies, the taste of ambience lingers in ghostly fashion – dynamic and always engaging.
