Texas Senators quickly asked for Harvey disaster relief. Hypocritically, voted ‘no’ to Sandy Hurricane relief.

The Hill reported that Texas Senators Cornyn and Cruz, asked for disaster relief before Hurricane Harvey hit their state of Texas. Outlets noticed that they had voted ‘No’ in another non-Texas disaster relief, just 5 years ago.

It was 2012, and Hurricane Sandy bludgeoned itself from the Caribbeans and destroyed many homes, lives while moving up the Atlantic Coast. For example, Hurrican Sandy cost the US in production and homes in an estimated $29 Billion in damages (for the New York & New Jersey). And in total, the damage was in the order of $70 Billion dollars (sum of damages of US Atlantic coast- not counting damages outside of the US states).

Some outlets report that the estimated total damage to Texas and surrounding areas, due to Hurricane Harvey is in the area of $50 Billion. And it’s early, so the actual tally will likely be higher.

Senators who voted ‘Nay’ of H.R.152 (2012 Bill for Hurricane Sandy Relief):
