Before it hits the 30 second mark it’s already virulently catchy. Frontman Johannes Gammelby has an ear for unusually captivating melody without for a moment compromising the grungy heaviness that characterizes the band’s sound, nestled (uncomfortably) somewhere between Part Chimp, Faith No More and Sonic Youth.
‘Syphon’ sounds like a suspension bridge collapsing in slow motion; cabling snapping unpredictably, whirling and folding War of the Worlds-style. It’s a violent spectacle, but it holds your attention throughout.

10 years of silence indicated that I Am Bones were living up their name, existing only in memory. Frontman Johannes Gammelby’s attention elsewhere with The Malpractice. The 2018 EP Oaf marked the band’s exhumation, 2019’s single ‘Restorer’ and a handful of live shows suggested I Am Bones were fully re-animated.
