James Walker ‘Wild World (feat. Judy Blank)’ : Roams with compulsion and an inner stock for hope.

James Walker

“I planted flowers inside your chest, that grew to gardens and took your breath//Now bear this burden, you know I’ve been alone before.” The lyrics that bears witness to the wilds of life and relationship, and he falsity of it all.

Brooding and gripping, this episode of a long and dusty road, roams with compulsion and an inner stock for hope.

The first verses (above) of this song were the last words James wrote in his shared apartment with his ex-lover. “They were wrought with frustration and a bitterness that carries over into the instrumentation, vocal delivery and lyrical choices in the song.”

‘Wild World’ was produced by the magnificent Sam Winfield (Amber Run, BMTH) at Studio 91. It is the third of eleven songs to be released over 2020, that document James’ experiences with subjects of: “turbulent relationships, old wounds, and an ever growing longing for stability.”

Cinematic indeed.
