Jude Connors cover of The Killers ‘Smile Like You Mean It’ : Understated tones when climbing the everest.

Jude Connors

“I’m Jude Connors. I’m a 21-year-old singer/songwriter from Calgary, Canada. This is my take on The Killers’ classic. Just a little something I’m putting out to follow my original single called ‘Glimpse’ that came out a few weeks back.” And with this cover, Jude makes it clear that his success with ‘Glimpse’ wasn’t just a one-off. A production of gentility and elemental vision for a project, this single from The Killers, dabble in and out of consciousness, deliberate in its viability.

Putting a song that is arguably a pop-culture exclamation mark, is always hard to make your own. We think it’s Jude’s vocals. It just comes off into a comforting role that is as mean in its understated tones when climbing the everest of build-up. But at the same time, it’s as gentle and loving, as it needs to be.

It retains the apt clarity of the original version, without overly trying, so.

Kudos.
