Sweden based JULIA AND THE BASEMENT TAPES brings something that is cogent, touching, and reliably heartfelt. It might be the voice of Julia-Lotta Tinglöf, or it might be the country-folk deliciousness. Or it just might be that the combination of rich honesty that flows unrestricted from this ‘Something More’ that just hits the spot.
The construction is fabulously done. From the beautifully done guitar solo (with strategically emotive flat notes at the right points), to the exquisitely expressive vocals of Julia-Lotta – we revel in the seemingly simple and modern aura of this song.
Originally established in 2013, the band has been evolving and delivering on song of irreverence and contrasts, in and about life.
When listening to ‘Something More’ you’re taken back to a place of the 90’s acoustic visions that we often delve into these days. The un-obstructive positivity of the works that was prevalent, exuded confidence, innovation, and best of all, that joie de vivre that we all longed for.
We think with ‘Something More’, JULIA AND THE BASEMENT TAPES successfully taps into and extracts those exact sentiments, for us to view and love, once more.
