KOJ ‘Pamela’ : “I don’t feel right here in the light, ‘cause I do belong here with the night”.

“I don’t feel right here in the light, ‘cause I do belong here with the night”.

KOJ wanted to explore the way someone might perceive the world through this lens of anxiety and hopelessness and it made them wonder what it might take for that person to see a silver lining and to feel like they belong again.

Three musicians. Two brothers. One married couple. All together bringing the thought and emotive experimentation via cogent lyrical exercises.

“Pamela is named, yet again, after a famous actress,” said the trio. “What started out as an inside joke actually made a lot of sense when looking at the theme of the song and so Pamela was born. The way in which society portrayed, or to this date portrays, women in TV and film or in society in general was and still is at times highly sexualized and objectifying. Women are supposed to be pretty, desirable or of a certain body type. We all play many different roles in our lives. We pretend to be someone, that we really aren’t or don’t want to be anymore. The song wants to encourage each and every one of us to be braver in showing ourselves in a way that feels authentic to us, even if it’s not what others expect of us.”

Slicing down enthusiasms and energies. You resist that temptation, of self indulgence and redemption. Of strength of hope and excitement, as individual and whole. Your right to exist, is within your hands, heart, and conviction.

Alina, Simon and Nils make things right – again.

Amidst all the mess, the uncertainty and the long hours sitting at home we are sending you this goofy picture of us to cheer you up! We wanted to share lots of new music with you guys, play amazing support shows and get prepared for our first headline tour. Now things are looking very different and we don't know yet, how everything is going to turn out. We are gutted 'cause we were so excited to share with you what we have been working on in the past year. Still, we don't want to be silent now that we don't get to see you all in person. We are working on creative ways of bringing our music to your home and will be keeping you updated asap. The most important thing now is to stay safe, to be kind to each other, to stay positive and to keep your head up. We are sending lots of love your way! KOJ 🖤 Photo by @simonvondergathen #kojband #deep #dark #indie #indiemusic #indieband #family #trio #band #goofy #blackandwhite #bekind #longbranchrecords #kicktheflamepublishing #initiativemusik @longbranchrecords @initiativemusik @kicktheflamepublishing
