The footage is flippin’ bonkers. There are giant shadow men, a fetus, golden deteriorating skulls, suicides, and an apparently pregnant Norman Reedus. “Once there was an explosion, a bang that gave rise to life as we know it,” Reedus growls. “Then came the next explosion. An explosion that will be our last. – Kotaku

Hideo Kojima, the much-loved director of the wild Death Stranding, briefly appeared on stage following the trailer’s debut. He was joined by Norman Reedus, who joked about finding the footage just as esoteric as the rest of us.
The vibe is kind of Alien-esque sci-fi horror by way of Junji Ito manga, seeing disturbing and inexplicable things happen to some guys in atmospheric suits with vial-encased babies attached to the front. The squad is haunted by invisible monsters and spooky levitating apparitions. At one point Reedus sinks to the bottom of a lake that appears out of nowhere and looks up to see a giant bug skate across or above the surface. Later, the perspective shoots down his throat to reveal a baby sucking its thumb at the camera. Look, you should probably just watch the trailer.
We don’t know. It was announced in 2016, but since then, we’ve not had any announcement for a release date. Given no gameplay has been shown yet, don’t expect a surprise release in the near future.
We know that Del Toro will be joining Kojima at The Game Awards on Thursday, and we’re crossing everything that the pair will unveil a brand new trailer for us to obsess over. “Soon Kojima-san will unveil his plans to the world. I hope he doesn’t make my digital avatar suffer great horrors,” says Del Toro.
There’s no official word yet on when Death Stranding will release, but Kojima himself hinted that it might launch in 2018. It stars Mads Mikkelson (Hannibal), director Guillermo Del Toro, and Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). In April, Kojima spoke a little about the game, explaining why he wanted Norman Reedus to be naked in the game’s first trailer. We’ve since learned why its fog looks so nice.
