Damn it. We love it when music like Slow Place Like Home’s ‘Shadow Cat’ comes along. And at the same time wish we’d known about SPLH’s body of work sooner. But there’s good news. We all can now know more and experience more of what SPLH offers. And the offering is gloriously unique and downright exhilarating.
New 2 song EP ‘Shadowcat’ available now.
The single comes at us from the corner of the Universe where nuwave, electro, Morrissey-tude, and digital harpsichords come to play, and have kids. And this child is the world’s savior of known and unknown prospects for the inner self.
SPLH is the project of producer/musician Keith Mannion based out of Donegal, Ireland, who has now his sophomore album ‘When I See You… Ice Cream!’ released on Special Edition 12” Vinyl physical and digital formats. He has played live shows with, Fujiya & Miyagi, Dan Deacon, Squarepusher, Perfume Genius, Day Wave, Ezra Furman, Moodoïd, Prince Rama, Glass Animals and Pantha Du Prince.
His latest album, ‘When I See You… Ice Cream!’ was released in October of 2017, but no less poignant. His electronica and synth pop accumens flourishing and undulating like the 15 feet high waves in the middle of the open Atlantic Ocean. The 11 song (along w/ 2 bonus tracks) are a trek through whatever calls home in the head of Mannion. And that is what’s ‘good’ about the cylindrical and fantastical arrangements and presentation by SPLH.
From ‘Shadowcat’ and onward, the songs are under-stated and beautiful to listen to.
We’re glad we crossed paths with SPLH.
Looking towards even more greater expressions of emotions from Mannion.
SPLH is rep’ed by Strange Brew, based in Galway, Ireland.
He performs both solo and with his live band as ‘Slow Place Like Home’. And more recently he has joined ‘Gaze is Ghost’s’ live unit.
