Lost Animal is Jarrod Quarrell, and vice versa – the hidden, the mysterious, the frustrating, the morbid, all wrapped into one. And we love it.
In Too Late To Die Young, the vocals are mumbled and hard to work out, the effect is classic and an enduring method. However, the ever present harmonica in the background makes this song so, so delicious. It’s crunchy, with the center nougat, surrounded by an ominous lingering soul – haunting our every second we listen.
Whether the songs are deeply guarded personal projects of his, or not, we think his body of work, and the direction he’s given this past album, is just fab.
