Maps & Atlases Hits Us With ‘Fall Apart’ Off Of Upcoming Album ‘Lightlessness Is Nothing New’ (June 1)

Chicago’s Maps & Atlases are set to make the return that we wanted, for a long while. Yes. 6 years long. But it’s going to worth it, for songs like their new single ‘Fall Apart’ (off of the new upcoming album) is going to make us dance and be proud of the life that is ironic, difficult, and many times worth celebrating whole-sale!

The record is the first since their 2012 ‘Beware & Be Grateful’.

“It’s not some binary thing. This is not the darkness of my experience; Lightlessness is somewhere in between. It’s somewhere that’s not light or dark, not transparent or opaque,” frontman Dave Davison stated, during an interview with Noisy.

“The story of this album is much more interesting than any other album we’ve made before,” Davison continued.

‘Lightlessness’ unfolded over a six-year period during which time Davison was struggling with anxiety. “‘Writing music became therapeutic, allowing Davison to identify and contemplate his obsessive tendencies while tracking a growing awareness of himself as a musician, a partner, a friend, a person. After cementing the structure of Lightlessness with longtime producer Jason Cupp (American Football, Good Old War), Maps joined up with Scott Solter.'”

The struggle seemed to be very difficult.

Dave. You came through to the other side. Hope sharing the new album will bring you to another level of appreciation for the art you compose.
