On Sunday night, a lone gunman later identified as, Stephen Paddock, opened fire with his fully automatic weapon down at the crowd in the street and in the Rout 91 Harvest Music Festival.
The Las vegas Metro Police identified the suspect as Stephen Craig Paddock, a 64 year old white male from Mesquite Nevada. Paddock opened fire on the crowd of more than 22,000 concert-goers from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, at about 10:08 pm.
The victims were attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival when shots started.
The Clark County Fire Department estimated that approximately 406 people were transported to area hospitals and 50 are dead following Sunday evening’s shooting.
An LVMPD officer (off duty at the time) has been killed. There were also two on-duty officers injured, one of whom was upgraded recently from critical to stable condition. The other sustained non-life threatening wounds.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is involved with the investigation.
