Merci, Mercy ‘Fucked Myself Up’ : Throws drizzling fire. Give life a nice middle finger wave goodbye, while we’re at it.

merci, mercy

Nineteen year old Sydney based singer Merci, Mercy (Mercedes Thorne) throws drizzling fire with debut single, ‘Fucked Myself Up’. It’s just why you wanna just throw your arms in the air and give life a nice middle finger wave goodbye.

It’s like that sometimes. Might as well enjoy the fruits of such pangs.

“‘Fucked Myself Up’ is about dependence on alcohol, it gave me the confidence to be able to talk to people,” elaborated Mercedes. “I was getting fucked up on purpose in order to allow myself to be around people I didn’t know. My goal is to make music that talks openly about mental health, so it’s as normal as talking about what you’re eating for dinner. Fucked Myself Up is me saying yes, I have a problem but I’m doing my best, so leave me alone.”

The single was written with Ed Wright (Vance Joy’s drummer and production asst) and Joel Quartermain and was mixed by Grammy award winning Spike Stent (Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Grimes). She’s got other singles ready to go, written with Oscar Dawson (Alex Lahey/Holy Holy) and Kon Kersting (Tones and I/Mallrat).

Measuring up for others, isn’t your style. Let’s not get too hung up on it, shall we?

Word.
