Peach Kelli Pop will drop their 4th full length album, ‘Gentle Leader’ and first in three years for the masses, to drink, to eat, and consume to their delight.
Their music is cuteness.
Their music is DIY pop-ness.
Their music, while you sleep, will cut you.
In a good way, of course, and we’ll feel the radioactive effects on May 25, when the new album drops.
The Los Angeles DIY sunshine punk pop band drives home their power pop riffs, layered with past decade post-punk goodness to their songs. On ‘Gentle Leader’, this time, the band expanded the collaborative efforts with Hanlon and shared production duties with Roland Cosio. Also, Sophie Negrini was featured on guitar, Andrew Bassett of ‘The Mean Jeans’ doing the drums, and Gina Negrini doing her thang at bass, contributing to the song ‘Quiet’ on the album.
On the new album, the subjects and tone of each song brings you to a different world of their own. ‘Parasomnia’ with the distinctive harmonies of the band vocals brings an intimate take on the doo-wop styles of old. Then with ‘Quiet’, the bass drives and sets the precedence in the life of what cannot be, that will be – ‘just shut up’. And on our favorite, ‘Don’t Push Me’, it’s a straight up demand that ‘you don’t own me. I know what I want. I’ll fail and succeed on my terms’; presented in the fast and furious punk tornado typical of the band’s style.
Their frenetically paced May/June tour will start May 25th @ The Hi Hat. Almost every day from then on, they’ll be playing at a venue.
They’re rep’ed by Mint Records.
