Nurse was arrested as police tried to illegally extract blood from unconscious suspect.

At the University of Utah’s burn unit, head nurse Alex Wubbels was arrested by the Salt Lake police department. The issue at hand was that the police wanted to extract blood evidence from an unconscious (DUI) suspect.

Washington Post reported, the police (headed by Detective Payne) did not have a warrant to seek the blood evidence, and that the nurse was on ‘solid legal footing’.

This incident took place on July 26th (2017), and is under investigation. This incident was reported by several news outlets, including The Salt Lake Tribune and The Desert News Utah.

The Supreme Court decision has indicated that this kind of evidence collection could be deemed illegal.
