Onsen ‘Be There’ : Contrasted in diabolical opposites in settled harmonies

“After playing it cool for too long, my person has drifted away. ‘Be There’ is a confession, that I took them for granted and realized foolishly late that I’m on board and want to make it work,” said Onsen. “That admission is delivered with a sense of freeing catharsis and a sing-along melody, with layered vocals and a driving beat. It ends up sounding somewhere between Tame Impala and The Beach Boys with clear world music influences.”

‘Be There’ was co-produced by grammy nominated producer Brook D’Leau.

The project of Drew Straus, the gargantuan subtleties are not missed as the debutant-vibes of Onsen, is perfected fitted into this shoegazy, dream-pop reverberations. The pastel colors are mixed in with the mischievous rancors of emotional demons, contrasted in diabolical opposites in settled harmonies of notions and truths. It’s that ‘bitter-sweet’ angst that Onsen expresses in his single, so well.

Other recent singles have been featured by Flaunt, Nylon, American Songwriter, Variance, and Buzzbands LA. ‘Charming Nights’ charted at #3 on KROQ’s Locals Only and was featured on Sia’s playlist of recommended new music.

The music video for Charming Nights is out now via @flauntmagazine * It’s directed by my incredibly inspiring friend @satyasees and I’m so proud of it. It is a visualization of a warehouse of memories. I drift between scene of two lovers, @christopherargodale and @shaiford24 coming together and then falling apart. Satya set up the filming so the motion between those scenes is continuous, shots drift away instead of cutting reminiscent of a single shot video. At the end we exchange bodies becoming an “exquisite corpse” composed of our past loves. * I’m so grateful to Satya for everything he did on this video. It was huge challenge and he managed to pull it off beautifully. Thank you to Christopher and Shane, and thank you to @bodiesinplay for choreographing. @thedjewel for styling us in his clothing, @mr_codybanks and @benpalacios_ for being our crew and cameoing in the video. @taylorrharrington for his prowess in editing & @ariannashiningstar for her beautiful color work. Thank you to @drewaiello_dp for his eye behind the camera. * Head over to Flaunt via link in bio and give it a view. I think it’s very special.
