PORTS ‘Reading in the dark’ : Naked, alone, but never too far from fate.

PORTS are a four-piece band from Northern Ireland. They are Steven McCool (Bass and Vocals), Mark O’Doherty (Drums), Ryan Griffiths (Guitar) and Conor Mason (Piano). ‘Reading in the Dark’, is about trying to simplify things, reconnecting with nature and before the pandemic happened, looking to that idea of isolation for creativity.

Recording the track with Julie McLarnon (King Creosote, Vaselines) at Analogue Catalogue Studios to analogue tape, allowed the band to create the laid-back Cajun feel while holding on to their signature 4-part harmonies and meaningful narrative.

With a mix of Neil Young and Jeff Buckley contrasts within the weeds of this Americana vibin’ indie, PORTS bring a sensual reality that is just like ‘Reading in the dark’, naked, alone, but never too far from fate.
