‘Candlelight’ is Jacksonport’s fourth single of twelve to be released in 2020 (one each month).
After leaving his Brooklyn apartment in Spring 2019, singer/songwriter John Fatum has traveled around in his car ‘Little Nipper’, spending would-be rent money on self-produced recordings and music videos. “Candlelight” is a modern ballad for the Pandemic time, searching for peace and serenity within the confines of a room: “and so it seems the candle’s made of dreams / I wish that I could sit here for a lifetime long.”
The exuding simplicity is undoubtedly consumed effortlessly by John’s effervescent confidence of his vocals and arrangement talents. James Taylor, Wilco and Gordon Lightfoot, Jacksonport deliver in that all encompassing charm of home-grown sentiments and personal revelry.
The project is named for the small town in Door County, Wisconsin where John spent summers growing up.
The recordings include synth playing by Julian Pollack (J3P0, The Lesson, Marcus Miller) and electric guitar by Adam Brisbin (Buck Meek, Sam Evian, Cass McCombs) and mixing by Grammy Award Winner Phil Joly (Electric Lady, Common, Lana Del Ray, Daft Punk, The Strokes).
Jacksonport’s familiar warmth is inviting beautiful in its genuine thoroughness. Its casual vibes, soaked in the blood of life’s bumps, Jacksonport, reports truth to the power of self adherence and justice of a well traveled tale.
John’s lifetime. Now and into your heart.
