It’s the alternate Universe. It contains the worlds of love and hate, living side by side, with harmony as the similar strain in white knight seems. And in that alternate world, the Ruen Brothers come harking, then taking over with old world western rock n roll – beckoning and tugging at the strings coming out of your heart. The exact heart that was broken, now healed with gentle strokes of the fingers of love.
The new song is the title track from their forthcoming debut album produced by Rick Rubin, and features Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) on drums, Dave Keuning (The Killers) on strings and Ian McLagan (Faces/Small Faces) on keyboards.
Rick Rubin explains, “I liked that their songwriting seemed like it was from another era… The idea was, what would a modern album with Roy Orbison and The Everly Brothers produced by Phil Spector sound like?” Drummer Chad Smith adds, “I was struck by their authenticity… and the songs were great.”
“The album was recorded using all real instruments and a live band, resulting in a different sound than what’s present in much of today’s popular music.”
Adds Rupert of the collaboration, “It was incredibly exciting… Rick has worked with some of our favorite artists of all time and is such a versatile producer. He helped us recognize the strength of Henry and I playing and singing together; it was a foundation to build upon and the guidance we needed.”
Looking forward to even more from the brothers.
