Siv Jakobsen ‘Fear the Fear’ : Truth in honesty. Hurt in the hours of the trepidations of personal gambits.

Siv Jakobsen

After taking a break in 2018 to allow her body and mind to recover from constant touring and recording, Norwegian songwriter Siv Jakobsen’s upcoming record via Norweigan label U OK?, ‘A Temporary Soothing’ is set for an April 24th release date and was recorded with producer Chris Bond (Nick Mulvey, Ben Howard) and mixed by Zach Hanson (Bon Iver).

These anxieties pour into album opener, ‘Fear The Fear’, cinematic strings move like waves breaking on the shore and Siv outlays her feelings of disconnect, singin: “Shake It off, I can’t, I won’t. ‘Cause what would I write about if I don’t fear the fear inside my bones.”

This space between recording stints allowed Siv time to progress the album and build herself up to try bolder things. There was no rush to complete anything and no need to settle in order to do so. The sense of freedom and safety allowed her to take a huge step forward and captured her growth and development on record.

Truth in honesty. Hurt in the hours of the trepidations of personal gambits. Don’t know what it will be.

“But it’ll be worth it.”
