“This song/video is a tribute to my friend Chris who passed away early this year,” Boy Brooks said. “Chris and I were old friends who used to make music together. The track opens with a short clip of an instrumental track he and I did back in 2011. After he passed, his brothers gave me some of his music gear and some of his belongings, including a hat. The hat has two birds on the front, hence the reference in the chorus.”
Whenever there is fright for the ‘morrow, there’s Boy Brooks to keep you chipper and tamp down the chip that shoulders. It’s a calm, ensemble of thoughts and premonitions in emotions. It’s what we were – it’s what we inhabited – it’s our growing up trials and tribulations.
All seemed to be utterly too incomprehensible back then. But friendship and music got us through.
“[I’ll Be Alright] is a warm, 80s inspired rock track with emotional subject matter and heartfelt tribute. For anyone who has lost a loved one too soon. August 7th is release date, which would have been Chris’ 31st birthday.”
Coming of age, flying on a magic carpet vision in charm, indeed.
Boy Brooks is Brooklyn-based artist Brooks Allison. He’s a Virginia native whom produces heartfelt stylish indie rock for the queer introspective in us all.
