Song Of The Day! David James Allen ‘Sundae Afternoon’ : There lies a film of heavy sadness, delight … makes a life, worth taking part.

David James Allen continues his story telling prowess at the highest levels with the single from upcoming album ‘Radiations’ (Fall 2020), ‘Sundae Afternoon’. Said David: “This song is about making friends with yourself in times of struggle, solitude and isolation. Song vibe: Introspective, reflective, cathartic, chill, dreamy, playful, smooth, stylish, tender.”

A singer/songwriter, graphic artist, DIY record producer and poet, the ingenuity of David’s word construction is of this and of a past decade of our own personal whims. And when collected into a song of profound craft and gumption, there lies a film of heavy sadness, delight, and all of the contrasts that makes a life, worth taking part.

‘Sundae Afternoon’ delivers a collection of vibes, that reach out and tells you the critical truths of your living and of existence. The folk blues vision, is carefully delivered in the charms of David’s unalterably confident and majestic vocals.

A warm touch, upon the shoulder blade; a familiar kindness and of acknowledgement, decidedly visit the manic emptiness of a corner that seems to decide the mood for the day. Deep inside your soul, you know you can go on, for that hand on your body, tells you that there is someone who is there for you.

In 2017, Allen established himself as a bona fide roots music auteur with his debut album ‘When The Demons Come’, a collection of wide-ranging alt-country, folk, blues and gospel influences. Critics have called it “a stone cold brilliant album that should not become a tiny footnote of Canada’s music history” and “one of the more sublime debut albums of 2017”.

‘Radiation’ is composed of 10 tracks, all of which Allen will be recording, producing, designing artwork for and releasing; one-song-each-month, out of his home studio in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Looking forward to it, for sure.
