Talk Show is indeed a band to watch for 2020. An undeniable combination of vibes that are of Talking Heads, Rush, The Cure, ‘Banshee’ is a lyrically rich tapestry of story and invigorating tones for whatever may prevail.
As they announce their debut EP ‘These People’ (March 27th), the obviously vibrant song writing culture within the band, bursts out with exuding sunshine and tans your sensibilities for what you’d been missing.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Harrison Swann said of the track: “At its core, Banshee is a frustrated lovelorn tale. We didn’t want ‘Banshee’ to feel depressing or hopeless, more heartfelt and ardent. I wanted the lyrics and song to progress through a relationship which brings no resolution, nor closure for the protagonist. Focused on melodic guitar lines and the rhythm section supporting the lead vocal, it helped us to create an uplifting track with a melancholic undertone.”
The band’s beautifully visible quality of words and the language of communication is fabulously demonstrated in this single. Just like David Byrne or Robert Smith, the words are a vehicle that is there to be utilized with reverence and with tact. A direction of which the gang in Talk Show heeds when they, themselves, are tasked to build and construct a skyscraper project of a song.
‘Banshee’ does it right.
See them next @ Nice ‘N’ Sleazy, Glasgow April 17th.
