SoundCloud secures independent future with ‘largest’ funding to date. New executives will take helm.

Founder and Chairman, Alexander Ljung confirmed in a company blog post that SoundCloud will be continuing strongly, into the future.

“I’m happy to announce that together with investors The Raine Group and Temasek we’ve just wrapped up the largest financing round in the history of SoundCloud. This financing means SoundCloud remains strong & independent. As I said, SoundCloud is here to stay.”

Rumors in the past couple of months, were indicating that there was mounting pressure of SoundCloud not being able to continue as it was currently. At the extreme, some of the rumors were of SoundCloud disappearing, all together.

9TO5MAC.COM reported that there will be a new Chief Executive Officer (Kerry Trainer) and Chief Operations Officer (Mike Weissman), both former Vimeo executives, will be taking up the day-to-day and overall strategy into the coming years.

With the recent confirmation, there surely will be many un-signed and under-signed artists who will be breathing a sigh of relief.

SoundCloud, founded 2007 in Stockholm Sweden, is an online audio distribution platform. The company is currently headquartered in Berlin, Germany.
