Speedy Ortiz shares ‘Lucky 88’ (official music video). Announces new album and 2018 Tour Dates.

Sadie Dupuis is very socially conscious. She’s the front woman for Speedy Ortiz which shared ‘Lucky 88’ music video, which is consistent with Sadie’s past solo project. Now, it’s just fabulously and diabolically in the frame of a band – which tunes to a different string, then says ‘take me as I am’. Point taken Sadie.

The single is off of the upcoming full album ‘Twerp Verse’ which drops April 27th.

“For the video, we wanted something evil, glossy, cynical, and camp,” Dupuis explains. “Our director Emily Yoshida came up with a concept that addresses our reliance on technology and apps that’s so absorbing, it’s hard to engage with the outside world, even when it is literally being consumed by slime (and, hello, global warming, melting ice, coral bleaching, impending heat death, make no mistake, it IS being consumed by slime).”

“The songs on the album that were strictly personal or lovey dovey just didn’t mean anything to me anymore…” explained Sadie Dupuis. “Social politics and protest have been a part of our music from day one, and I didn’t want to stop doing that on this album.”

Speedy Ortiz consists of: Sadie Dupuis on guitars, vocals, and synths, with supporting guitarist Andy Molholt (of psych pop outfit Laser Background), Darl Ferm on bass and Mike Falcone on drums.

The eloquent notes smarted with Sadie’s clarity of vocal character, induces indie pop serenity along with some education.

We’ve been educated.
