SXSW canceled due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Rescheduling and other options will be weighed.

Disappointment mounts for many of the world’s destination events as another one will close its doors for the 2020 season. In accordance to the judgement made by the city of Austin, the mega festival will follow the direction of the municipality’s decision.

At a Friday Mayor Steve Adler stated: “I’ve gone ahead and declared a local disaster in the city, and associated with that, have issued an order that effectively cancels South by Southwest for this year.”

SXSW said it was “exploring options to reschedule the event,” and that it was “now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”

Included in a laundry list of noted events that have close in the world are: The Ultra Music Festival, World Bank meetings, Adobe Summit, ASEAN summit, Geneva International Auto Show, Mobile World Congress.
