‘On The Radio’ is from a fabulously engaging blues based indie-rock-psych band from Berlin Germany, named THE FLAVIANS. This is the first single from the upcoming new debut album ‘Ordinary People in an Ordinary World’ and it is the vehicle the band decided to utilize, this time, to tell a story about a sliver in a fantastical attribution of life as we live it.
This single is about a ‘schizophrenic who calls into a drive-time radio show while speeding through a red light’. But it is an luminary example in what we as ordinary people living on this Earth can go through on a particular day, on a particular state of affairs. Sometimes we lose our ‘grace’ and pumping along the high-way of life, it’s incredible that most of us don’t lose it more often.
THE FLAVIANS sprawl their infectiously bright method of musical communication with a carpet of California-dreamin’ harmonic sprinkles reminiscent of ‘The Mamas And The Papas’ decades. However, the aesthetics of ‘On The Radio’ keeps it firmly attached to the current flow of modern indie-pop-rock.
Liam Blomqvist’s vocals are grating and perfect for the kind of demand it requests of the songs. And with the combination of his bandmates Joakim Jägerhult (drums), Anna Vaverková (keys & vocals) and Thomas Wills (bass & vocals), they took the momentum and energy Berlin had given them and rounded out their efforts through their project.
As we say in the States, the ‘engine hasn’t started to breathe yet’ and we think ‘On The Radio’ just hints at what they can do as a band.
We think you should give them a try. As we dig their vibe.
Let’s see where it goes from here.
