The funky synth work on Tommy Down’s Debut Single ‘Superficial’ is a whip to the face, left cheek. It’s gentle in presentation, but listen to it…the object of one’s desires is spelled out and pointed out. The falsehoods, the upper crust pretending is not warranted of our lives, but we do it anyway.
Tommy has been dialing down his musical profession and from the looks of things, the fruits of his hard work is becoming apparent.
His next evolution of pop-like songs, unique to him continues, and we all are more sane for it.
“…It tries to show how our generation is fully aware of how narcissistic and unhealthy it can be. Yet in spite of knowing this; we don’t seem to care and almost revel in being like this.” – Tommy Down.
The clever use of notes and tongue-in-cheek phrases, makes the song a plaything for the mind, and maybe – just maybe prevent those urges we feel deep inside.
Whether we’re ashamed or not.
