Topshelf bringing the alt-math-sugar-pop-rock to the states in the form of this fabulous quartet, Tricot. It’s a fabulous addition, and we’re very glad TS is doing it.
The video is of Tricot’s September 2013 single ‘Ochansensu-su’ (off the album ‘T H E’).
Tricot’s albums ‘T H E’ and ‘A N D’ in vinyl are on the agenda. They are publications from 2013 and 2015, respectively. But no less fabulous. Topshelf had offered ‘3’ in 2017, as well.
Pre-orders are a GO! [HERE]
“tricot” is a Japanese alternative rock band formed in historical and cultural city Kyoto in Sep 1, 2010. Original members are: Ikkyu Nakajima (vocals / guitar), Motoko “Motifour” Kida (guitar / backing vocals), and Hiromi “Hirohiro” Sagane (bass / backing vocals). Male drummer Kazutaka Komaki joined in May 2011, they established their own label, BAKURETSU RECORDS.
The band develops a very unique world with perfectly mixed elements of pure, fragile but strong vocals and unpredictable song transition.
The band’s experimental music primarily consists of melodic post-rock-inspired sounds and complex rhythm reminiscent of math rock (although the members are not conscious of the music genre such as post rock or math rock).
