Gord Downie the lead of popular Canadian band, The Tragically Hip, passed away at aged 53, after a long war with “aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer called glioblastoma”, which was diagnosed in 2015.
Downie was known for his often bombastic and dramatic live show presence, overflowing charisma for all to share, gratifying his audience and fans.
In the U.S. casual indie rock listener the song that was identified and associated with the Tragically Hip was ‘Poets’. The song was published in 1998 and climbed to number 1 in the Canadian Alternative Rock chart, and subsequently reached #39 in Billboard’s rock chart, thereafter.
