Band’s Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour kicks off in Glendale, Arizona with setlist stocked with hits and “classic lineup”-era favorites.
In a previous statement Corgan said: “Some 30 years ago, as ‘The Smashing Pumpkins,’ James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my father’s house..And so it’s magic to me that we’re able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we’ve made together.”
But from some fan’s point of view, seems the song (in the video) ‘Stairway To Heaven’ (classic Led Zepplin diddy) seems lethargic and low on energy, as it was presented with the typical Corgan vocal and arrangement dynamics.
With the theatrical background video showing a ‘dragged-out’ symbolism of a ‘tragic’ person, the band continued and then hit the iconic solo part of the song.
The crowd roared and was captivated by the exchange.
Well, if you’re a fan of Led Zepplin’s original, it could be seen as an ‘underwhelming’ performance.
But it’s a cover ain’t it? It’s respect from artists to artists, we can say.
Either case, good to see the support from their fans and the reunion tour starting off so well.
