Yummm is a soft course and affection in indie pop. Trimming the fat off of the frivolous, Yummm, delights in getting knee deep.
“‘Be a Man’ is about being a man,” said Yummm (Matty), “and how different people have different ideas of what that means.”
“The verses start out wary of traditional masculinity, then become selective of “masculine” traits that are positive, and end up hopeful for a more flexible definition of what it means to be the gender that you are,” added Matty. “The choruses evoke my fear that the outside world is impatient for me to figure myself out, and would rather just squeeze me into a mold. And I’m sure I’m not alone in this feeling.”
It’s sometimes hard to see what really bothers you. Until maybe when someone – a friend perhaps – can point you in the right direction.
Yummm is a small nudge in the rightful turn.
Jennie Lawless, Matty’s friend and Covid podmate, sings with him in the chorus. Joey Vannucchi (Matty’s friend and former bandmate), sent Matty the tom fills to make the song twinkle.

For a Moment I Love You is online! Thank you for listening, especially if you’re listening all the way through 🙂 Making an album these days feels counterintuitive when singles vie to fill up whatever’s left of our brain space, but I prefer to think of an album as a break, a meditation, a cocoon. It offers time to notice things, and time for the artist to open up. It’s a lovingly designed space to wander through your thoughts and reclaim your senses. That is, if you wanna come inside. Link in bio! <3 Thanks again to @joeyvannucchi and @lawlessjennie for the creative company and support. #newmusic #friendswithbenefits #albumartwork #longplaying
